These website terms do not replace any proposal, statement of work, confidentiality agreement or service contract entered into with Surlata. If there is a conflict, the signed project-specific agreement will govern the relevant services.

This website provides general information about Surlata’s capabilities in archival digitisation, document preservation, scanning, image processing, transcription, translation, metadata creation and archival management. You may use the website for lawful informational and business-enquiry purposes only.

You must not attempt to disrupt the website, bypass security measures, introduce malicious code, harvest information, misrepresent an affiliation with Surlata, or use the content in a manner that infringes any person’s rights or applicable law.

Descriptions of services, workflows, languages, scripts, technologies and potential outcomes are illustrative and do not constitute a binding offer, warranty or commitment. Historical collections differ in age, condition, binding, format, handwriting, language, rights status and technical complexity. Each project therefore requires a separate assessment.

Scope, handling requirements, locations, timelines, deliverables, file formats, metadata standards, quality thresholds, review cycles, pricing and acceptance criteria will be documented in a written proposal or agreement. Any estimate remains subject to the assumptions, exclusions and validity period stated in that document.

Digitisation seeks to create a faithful and useful digital representation of source material, but results may be affected by deterioration, stains, fading, tears, binding restrictions, handwriting, ink show-through, missing pages or incomplete source records. Optical character recognition and automated extraction may not be suitable for every document or script.

Transcription and translation of historical Modi Lipi, Farsi, Urdu and other materials may require interpretation where spelling, terminology, context or source legibility is uncertain. Any required accuracy standard, manual review level and treatment of illegible or ambiguous content must be agreed for the project. Unless expressly stated in writing, outputs are not certified legal translations or a substitute for specialist legal, historical or academic advice.

A client engaging Surlata is responsible for providing accurate project information, lawful access to the source material, relevant handling instructions, and timely approvals or feedback. The client must have the authority and necessary permissions to supply, reproduce, digitise, translate, process and distribute the material for the intended purpose.

The client should identify confidential, restricted, culturally sensitive, classified or personal information before transfer and communicate any mandatory institutional, conservation, security or retention requirements. Surlata may pause or decline work where safe handling, lawful processing or technical feasibility cannot reasonably be established.

The Surlata name, logo, website design, text, original graphics and other website materials are owned by or licensed to Surlata and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. You may view and print reasonable extracts for internal, non-commercial reference, but may not reproduce, modify, publish, distribute or commercially exploit website content without prior written permission.

Ownership and permitted use of archival source material, digitised images, metadata, translations, transcriptions, project methodologies and final deliverables are determined by applicable law and the relevant project agreement. Display of illustrative historical material on this website does not represent a claim of ownership or identify it as client work.

Surlata recognises that archival collections may include sensitive, unpublished or restricted information. Confidentiality obligations and project-specific security controls are agreed in writing where required. Users should not transmit sensitive archival files through ordinary email unless an authorised Surlata representative has confirmed the appropriate transfer method.

We take reasonable care to keep website information current and useful, but do not guarantee that all content is complete, error-free, continuously available or suitable for a particular purpose. We may modify, suspend or withdraw website content without notice.
